Excellence in Education

Excellence in Education is an awards banquet where each of the top ten graduating students honors an individual who made a difference in his or her achievement.  Each student brings their parents as well as their special mentor to the banquet.  The program is long remembered by the students and revered by teachers, serving as an inspiration to them to stimulate more students.

Junior College Trip

The Junior Class College Trip offers all qualifying juniors a chance to visit a variety of college campuses to help them evaluate different college alternatives (public vs. private, large school vs. small school, etc) that are available after their Forest Park graduation.  In the past, students visited schools such as Michigan State University, Lake Superior State, Albion, Western Michigan, Ferris State University, Central Michigan University, Alma College, Kendall College of Art and Design, and Bay College.

Classroom Requests

Teachers are surveyed and given the opportunity to request classroom supplies/aids which enhance the students' learning opportunities.  The purchases benefit all Forest Park students.  Examples of purchases in the past include microscopes, social studies and history DVDs, and science journals.

PLAN Tests

This test is given to the Sophomore class.  The test is a practice test for the ACT which is important in our students' acceptance at various colleges and to participate in various programs.  It is the goal of Forest Park to have each Sophomore student take this important evaluation to help prepare them for future ACT tests.

Student Group Requests

We have provided financial support for many groups/organizations such as Business Professionals of America, National Honor Society, and Quiz Bowl Groups.

Graduate Panel

Every other year, the Club sponsors a panel of Forest Park graduates who are currently attending college to speak to the sophomore and junior classes regarding their college education and experiences.  It is set up as a question and answer session.  The college students selected represent various years in their education, and are from schools of varying sizes and locations.

Middle School and High School Honors Programs

The Honors Programs are given for both the senior high and junior high students who have achieved the honor roll.  These students and their family members are invited to the honors program which features certificate presentation and a guest speaker.  For the junior high program, the speaker is typically someone from the community who gives a motivational talk regarding continued academic achievement.  On the high school level, we offer a speaker with more of a college-based presentation.  An ice cream party is enjoyed at the conclusion of each program.  The program serves as an encouragement for students to continue their positive academic activities.
